Art at the Basement Gallery
Payments
Where you see the BUY link you can purchase work directly
from this website. We use PalPal to process sales, but you
do not need a PayPal account to make a purchase.
At
the Basement Gallery we accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover
credit and debit cards. We will accept checks accompanied
by a picture ID, such as a drivers licence.
We
also operate a Layaway Scheme, through which clients can spread
the payment for an artwork into four equal payments over a
four month period. The artwork remains at the gallery until
payment is made in full.
Advice
Trust your own instincts. It is true that art can be a great
investment, but this should not be the main reason for buying
it. Buying wisely is more about developing a collection that
you love and want to keep. If you have a good eye, over time
you may find that amongst that collection you have work that
has greatly increased in value. What this really means is
- that you are able to enjoy owning a work that might be out
of your reach if you were to buy it today. We
mainly show emerging and mid career artists and believe that
all of the work we select for the gallery will at very least
retain, if not increase in value. However, be aware that art
is not an asset that can be quickly liquidated.
Jane
Brumfield has over 20 years of experience curating the visual
arts and a great eye. She trained in sculpture and painting
and worked as a practicing artist before shifting her career
to become a curator. The work in the gallery reflects her
personal tastes, but her endeavour is to select the very best
work in each of the genre represented by the gallery. She
has been collecting art since her early 20s and happy to discuss
work from both a conceptual and technical perspective.
Changing
Your Mind/Returns
We are aware that you may feel differently once you get your
artwork home. Because we act as an agent for our artists we
can not make any refunds once the artist has been paid. You
may return your purchase within the first ten working days,
but following this period, all sales become final.
If
you are buying a work through our layaway scheme this 10 working
day, cooling off period begins following the first payment.
Please refer to the layaway agreement for full conditions
of the scheme.
If
you have purchased a work online the same cooling off period
applies, but return shipping is the clients resposibilty and
work must arrive back with us in the same condition as originally
shipped.
*For
the purpose of these trading terms,‘working days’
means: days on which the gallery is open (Tuesday –
Saturday) and the client can reasonably expect to be able
to contact the gallery.
